Problem

New students and visitors have a lack of specific, quality, and functional resources when navigating around Georgia Tech’s campus. Current applications only work when navigating the exterior of campus, are confusing to access, or are not updated with amenity locations and correct information.

Solution

Using the double diamond, we diverged and converged on four core requirements that our solution needed to accomplish: navigating to a classroom, navigating to the closest amenity, rerouting around an obstacle, and accepting crowdsourced error reports. With four major design criteria (discoverability, specificity, aesthetics, and accessibility) in mind, we narrowed down our ideas to three design solutions, which were then consolidated into two: an application that utilizes smartwatch haptics and a phone camera for AR wayfinding. We prototyped a solution that was tested with real stakeholders, and the data was analyzed to reveal potential design flaws and future changes.
